JOHNSONS MICROGREENS STILL A FLAVOUR HIT WITH CUSTOMERS

Johnsons Seeds reports increased sales of 31% for its Microgreens growing kit in the 2017 season, buoyed by the continuing trend of adding baby leaves to dishes.

Loved by chefs and best described as ultra-baby leaf vegetables, Microgreens can be grown all year round on a windowsill, even through the winter when little else is available. They add a punchy taste to just about any savoury dish from sandwiches to steaks, stir-fries to soups, or can be used simply as an attractive and tasty garnish.

Helen Clayton, Johnsons Brand Manager commented "Microgreens really are such an easy way of adding fresh flavour to liven up meals. Our reusable growing tray is perfect for those of us with little time on our hands."

The complete windowsill growing kit comes with a reusable tray and three packets of basil, coriander and rocket seeds and has a RRP of £4.99. The trays come in a shelf ready display of 12. A great addition to ranges aimed at the Christmas gift market, retailers can still place orders for the Microgreens growing tray in time for the festive season.

Johnsons sell a separate Microgreens seed packet range of eight varieties, including best-selling beetroot and has RRPs from £2.09 to £3.19.
